Lecturers demand Unmet as ASUU’s Ultimatum to FG Ends

The Federal Government has begun moves to prevent an industrial action in the country’s public universities as the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ three-week deadline ended on Sunday. Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), had on November 15, 2021 given the Federal Government a three-week ultimatum over failure to meet its demands. The  Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, in an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday, said  the ministry had written a letter to the Ministry of Finance on the payment of allowances to staff of universities. KWASU expel 87, as 6,620 students convoke

Not fewer than eighty seven (87) students were expelled over varying degrees of offenses by the management of the Kwara State University, Malete. This much was disclosed by the Institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi (SAN), during a press briefing heralding the commencement of activities of the combined 8th and 9th convocation ceremony of the Institution. Akanbi while giving statistics of convoking students, said 87 Students were expelled, while 6,620 graduands in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 Academic calendar. He said “Kwara State University has zero tolerance for indiscipline and misconduct, all cases of indiscipline were investigated and appropriate punitive measures are taken against students found guilty of such offence. “This is to ensure that the few bad eggs among the students do not contaminate the decent ones. ‘I Pray For Biafran Agitation To Crumble In 2019’ – Methodist Church Prelate

The Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Samuel Uche, has said that those clamouring for break-up of the country are being sponsored by selfish politicians. “All these campaigns that the Igbo must leave a section of the country or that Biafra must be, they are all sponsored by politicians who are looking for political power,” Mr. Uche said on Sunday in Ibekwe, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, during a Thanksgiving Church Service organised by the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Nsima Ekere. “Any politician who sponsor people to kill others so that they can enter political office, they will never enjoy that office,” Mr. Uche prayed in a loud voice.
