UNILORIN Management finally reacts to Dr. Ajiboye action towards SU President
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin,
Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), has waded into
the case of the alleged assault on the University
Students’ Union President, Comrade Lukman
Shobowale, by a lecturer, Dr. A. Ajiboye last
Monday, assuring the entire students body that
justice would be done in the matter.
Prof. Ambali, who gave the assurance during a
meeting with the student leaders in his office
today, urged the students to remain calm and
continue to be law-abiding.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that that the case
has been reported to him and that steps are
already being taken by management to get to
the roots of the matter.
Prof. Ambali commended the Student Union
President for the maturity with which he handled
the matter and for not allowing it to degenerate
into a break-down of law and order, saying that
Comrade Shobowale has by his humility
demonstrated the stuff a better-by-far student
leader is made of.
He therefore assured that due process would be
followed strictly in dealing with the matter on
hand, pointing out that as an institution founded
on rule of law, it will not be in the interest of
anybody to take any precipitate action.
The Students’ Union President was accompanied
to the meeting by some members of the
Association of Faculty Presidents.
The meeting was also attended by the Sub-
Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. A. Yusuf, and the Head
of the Corporate Affairs Directorate, Mr. Kunle
Akogun.
