5 Things President Buhari Said That Impressed President Barack Obama
President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, met
with US President Barack Obama in New York; a
meeting in which Obama said he had confidence
in Buhari’s leadership.
During the bilateral meeting, which was held on
the sidelines of the 71st edition of the UN General
Assembly, Buhari mentioned some key points
which left Obama impressed.
Here are five of the key points:
1.) Buhari assured his US Counterpart that the
Niger Delta Militancy issue would soon be
resolved as Nigeria is making definite progress on
how many factions of the militant groups exist,
their leadership and operational basis.2.) Buhari confirmed that the government has
successfully degraded terrorist group, Boko
Haram. He also acknowledged the US’
assisstance in the fight against terrorism.
3.) He noted that the Government is combating
the humanitarian crisis currently ravaging the
North-East especially the IDPs camp that has
generated a lot of controversies recently.
4.) The President reiterated the stance of the
country to reaching food self-sufficiency soon.
5.) Buhari also told Obama that he is willing to
fulfill all his electoral promises hinging them on
the tripod promise of security, battle against
corruption, and revamping of the economy.
