President Buhari Removes State House Deputy Director Over Plagiarized Speech
Reports have emerged that a Deputy Director
linked with the plagiarism detected in President
Muhammadu Buhari’s speech at the launching of
the “Change Begins With Me” campaign has been
redeployed from the State House.
President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered
appropriate disciplinary action against those
responsible for the wrongful insertion in his
speech.
There was a public outcry after it was discovered
that part of the speech lifted from an address by
President Barack Obama of the United States.
Disciplinary process for the officer began at the
start of the week, Daily Trust reports.
“At 8 o’clock on the Monday morning following
the allegations, he reported at the office of the
Head of Service, and he was immediately asked
to vacate his position and office at the State
House pending further measures which will be
guided by civil service rules and regulations,” a
source said.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on
Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina confirmed the
developments by saying: “the officer is no longer
in the State House.”
It was also gathered that the Presidency has
also taken steps to avoid a repeat of such an
embarrassing occurrence.
